{"id":1267,"date":"2021-12-28T10:40:59","date_gmt":"2021-12-28T15:40:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/js1cd06kre.onrocket.site\/?p=1267"},"modified":"2021-12-28T10:40:59","modified_gmt":"2021-12-28T15:40:59","slug":"deep-humility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/glennsreflections.com\/index.php\/2021\/12\/28\/deep-humility\/","title":{"rendered":"Deep Humility"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/glennsreflections.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Telephone.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1268\" width=\"301\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/glennsreflections.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Telephone.jpg 705w, https:\/\/glennsreflections.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Telephone-300x255.jpg 300w, https:\/\/glennsreflections.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Telephone-624x531.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 301px) 100vw, 301px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A newly promoted military officer was ecstatic to discover that he had just merited his first private office.<br><br>On his first day on the job, he sat down in his chair and surveyed his desk, his bookshelves, and his very own telephone.&nbsp;<br><br>A moment later, as he looked out his window, he noticed a private heading his direction.&nbsp;<br><br>As the private came to his door he picked up the phone and gushed, \u201cThat\u2019s right, Mr. President, I couldn\u2019t agree with you more.&nbsp; And just as soon as I find the time I\u2019ll ring up the joint chiefs and assess their opinions about our strategies concerning China and the Middle East.&nbsp; See you at dinner this evening, sir.\u201d&nbsp;<br><br>With that he slammed down the phone, looked up at the private, and sighed, \u201cNow, what do <em>you <\/em>want?\u201d<br><br>\u201cI\u2019m sorry to disturb you, sir,\u201d said the private, \u201cbut I was just dispatched by maintenance to come over and hook up your new phone.\u201d<br><br>If we don\u2019t humble ourselves, we may be quite sure that somebody or something else will take care of the job for us.<br><br>Philippians 2:5-11 is one of the Bible\u2019s \u201cdeep humility\u201d texts.&nbsp;<br><br>The apostle Paul writes, \u201cIn your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:&nbsp;Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.&nbsp; And being found in appearance as a human being, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death \u2013 even death on a cross.\u201d<br><br>Why should we be humble?&nbsp; <em>God is humble<\/em>.<br><br>God\u2019s decision to quietly become <em>one of us<\/em> \u2013 instead of putting on a celestial light show for the ages \u2013 reveals that he values humility over displays of power.<br><br>Which is something for us to remember the next time we\u2019re tempted to call our own number.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A newly promoted military officer was ecstatic to discover that he had just merited his first private office.
