And it worked!\u201d he remembers.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>Most of all, he learned the power of four words:\u00a0 <em><strong>But wait, there\u2019s more!<\/strong><\/em><br>\u00a0<br>Those are the four words that became Popeil\u2019s trademark when he began to do his first TV infomericals.<br>\u00a0<br>Concerning the Veg-O-Matic, he promised:\u00a0 \u201cWhen chopping onions with this machine, the only tears you will shed will be tears of joy.\u201d\u00a0 There was GLH-9 (\u201cGreat Looking Hair Formula #9), which was Popeil\u2019s solution to male pattern baldness: a spray can that produced a mist of colored paint.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>He hawked the Smokeless Ashtray, Automatic Pasta Maker, Food Dehydrator, and the Rhinestone Stud Setter: \u201cIt changes everyday clothing into exciting fashions, and you don\u2019t have to spend a fortune.\u201d<br>\u00a0<br>His Showtime Rotisserie?\u00a0 \u201cSet it and forget it!\u201d<br>\u00a0<br>Popeil loathed \u201cthat white stuff\u201d that sometimes afflicted his incompletely blended scrambled eggs, so he invented the Inside-the-Shell Egg Scrambler.\u00a0 After using the scrambler, just crack the shell and pour out a perfectly blended egg.<br>\u00a0<br>Then of course there was Mr. Microphone, a short-range, hand-held transmitter that could be broadcast over an FM radio.\u00a0 Popeil\u2019s infomercial yielded one of the most cringe-worthy lines in advertising history.\u00a0 A young man preening in a convertible picks up his Mr. Microphone and broadcasts to a nearby girl: \u201cHey, goodlookin,\u2019 we\u2019ll be back to pick you up later!\u201d<br>\u00a0<br>Unsurprisingly, Ron Popeil\u2019s advertising style has been endlessly parodied.\u00a0 Dan Ackroyd\u2019s Bass-O-Matic on <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em> is a memorable example.<br>\u00a0<br>Popeil didn\u2019t care.\u00a0 He made a fortune selling his products and had a blast doing so.<br>\u00a0<br>But wait, there\u2019s more.<br>\u00a0<br>Consider the apostle Paul\u2019s amazing statement in Ephesians 3:20-21:\u00a0 \u201cNow to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!\u00a0 Amen.\u201d<br>\u00a0<br>In his book <em>All the Places to Go, <\/em>John Ortberg points out that the idea of \u201cmore\u201d is at the very center of the Good News:<br>\u00a0<br>God is able to do what we ask.<br>God is able to do what we ask <em>and what we imagine.<\/em><br>God is able to do <em>all <\/em>that we ask and imagine.<br>God is able to do <em>more than <\/em>all we ask and imagine.<br>God is able to do <em>immeasurably <\/em>more than all we ask or imagine.<br>\u00a0<br>When he wrote the book of Ephesians, Paul was stuck in a jail cell, having been unjustly imprisoned.\u00a0 Yet his mind was drawn to the fact that there are no limitations to God\u2019s ability to provide.<br>\u00a0<br>Where do you feel stuck today?\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>You may feel blind to what God is doing right now.\u00a0 You may have concluded you\u2019ll never be able to step beyond the \u201cprison walls\u201d of your circumstances or your discouragement.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>But God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.\u00a0 And he has promised that he will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>And when we experience our first jaw-dropping impressions of life in the next world, where the curtains will finally be pulled back on the presence and power of the God who has always been there, it\u2019s just possible that he will greet us with four familiar words:<br>\u00a0<br><em>But wait, there\u2019s more.<\/em><br>\u00a0<br>A whole lot more.\u00a0<br><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To listen to this reflection as a podcast,\u00a0click here.\u00a0Ron Popeil has almost certainly made an impact on your life, even if you don\u2019t recognize his name or face.\u00a0Popeil, who died two years ago at the age of 86, was the founder of Ronco, the company which gave birth to the Veg-O-Matic and dozens of other novelty inventions.\u00a0In the 50s and&#8230;
